Description:

The Nutrition Science coordinator will be key to maximizing performance of the Nutrition Science function in serving as a valuable business unit enabler.  Main responsibilities include using nutrition knowledge and communication skills to build and maintain Nutrition Science resource materials and coordinate activities and meetings related to nutrition science initiatives and BU support.  The position will additionally prepare communications related to recent scientific and public health publications of relevance to Company key nutrition and health issues.  This position reports to the Director, Nutrition Science, and will work closely with the Nutrition Science team members to support their strategy and advocacy efforts.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain and organize Nutrition Science Resources, including scientific proof points, advocacy materials, presentations and agreements.
• Improve and maintain current the Nutrition Science portal.  Including resources, databases (experts, agreements) and third party materials.
• Work with Scientific Information associates to identify, review, prepare and communicate summaries of key scientific papers, public health reports and trend data to inform global business units.
• Develop scientific white papers, ensure substantiation of SRA scientific communications on as-needed basis.
• Coordinate meetings, meeting summaries, webinars, and activities that increase BU intelligence and support advocacy effects.
• In conjunction with the Director of Nutrition Science, maintain the budget and serve as finance liaison.
• Support the Director of Nutrition Science and Sr. Manager Nutrition Science in day to day activities.
Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Science
Related Work Experience:  2+ years of work experience in nutrition industry role.
• Nutrition science expertise: Experience in applied nutrition science to the understanding and communication of accurate scientifically-substantiated positions, reviews, publications.
• Cross-functional work: Experience in working as part of a diverse cross-functional team.
• Food Industry: Industry experience in nutrition role, in particular in dealing with nutrition topics and issue management.
• Coordinator/Project Management: Experience in coordinating projects, meetings, teams on public health/nutrition topics.

Functional Skills:
• Basic regulatory knowledge: Knowledge of the political and regulatory landscape (e.g., laws, regulations, issues) affecting beverages in the Business Unit; the ability to manage complex regulatory issues to protect our products, ingredients, packages or claims. 
• Nutrition knowledge: Advanced knowledge of current nutrition science and trends and understanding of related opportunities and challenges as they apply to beverages, our products and ingredients (e.g., sugars, LNCS, juice, dairy).
• Nutrition Data Collection: Knowledge of current nutrition science and trends and understanding of related opportunities and challenges as they apply to beverages, our products and ingredients.  Ability to effectively leverage sources of nutrition information and transform them in ways that can be utilized for information innovation or scientific advocacy.
• Nutrition Information management: Knowledge of current nutrition science and trends and understanding of related opportunities and challenges as they apply to beverages, our products and ingredients.  Ability to assess and filter nutrition data and science, so as to support innovation and scientific advocacy. 
• Nutrition Communication: Understanding of basic nutrition science including complexities and controversies related to our portfolio and how foods and nutrients impact maintenance of health and/or obesity and other non-communicable diseases.  Ability to translate complex scientific facts in language that is understood by consumers, while remaining truthful and accurate. 
• Development of draft nutrition white papers: Understanding of basic nutrition science including complexities and controversies related to our portfolio and how foods and nutrients impact maintenance of health and/or obesity and other non-communicable diseases.
Travel Requirements:  Approximately 30%
