Description:

Working directly alongside and reporting to The VP of Design at Coca-Cola HQ, Atlanta, this is an exciting opportunity to hold a senior role within a NA Design team and bring what you have to a challenging and evolving business. We are seeking the perfect blend of high-level strategic and creative thinking, combined with proven ‘hands-on’ design execution skills as well as a strong track record of senior leadership and communication. Ultimately this role is about creating value for The Coca-Cola Company, by effectively using the power of Design.
 
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED…
TO BE ABLE TO DESIGN
15+ years Design industry experience.

An exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills (drawing/sketching, ideation, color theory, typography, imagery, texture).

Present a portfolio of exceptional self-created Design output.

Share examples where you have pushed creative boundaries and demonstrate where you have explored new territories.

Identify examples of ‘good work’ and ‘great work’ (see below).

Be a strategic high level ‘big thinker’, yet have the ability to craft the ‘design detail’.

Talk of your diverse global brand experience and output.

Be able to self-create compelling and engaging presentations

Show the confidence and ability to predict ‘what’s next’ in design trends.

Present your online visual voice, (blog, website or (Design) social platform).

Have an understanding of the global industry names, agencies and players.

Good knowledge of Design publications, blogs, platforms and 2014 events and demonstrate you are abreast of design industry global news and technology.

Effective use of Design software (see below).

Show you have a holistic Design approach for understanding context, developing insight, exploring and visualizing business (and Design) opportunities across all areas of Design including 2D, digital, retail equipment innovation, motion graphics, licensing and experiential.

Have in place, or the ability to build, a wide reaching creative network.
 
 TO BE ABLE TO LEAD

Demonstrate strong design leadership and proven past successes.

Have the ability to excite and inspire and provide guidance to Designers within a global team.

Assume the lead role in communicating and presenting creative strategies, design concepts and consumer / Design industry insights to internal and external audiences.

Been active in hiring, coaching and performance management of others.

Be strong when days, weeks, quarters don’t go the way we would like.

Share case studies where you have collaborated effectively and lead teams.

Proven partnerships and connections with Global Brand Teams and BU’s.

Be able to make decisions in a deadline driven environment in the most efficient way possible.

Be respected by others for the manner in which you carry out your role.
 
TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE

But not over communicate.

Lead design meetings, briefings and conference calls with confidence.

Share previous communication strategies, while demonstrating excellent written skills with the ability to summarize and convey complex information in a compelling, engaging and simple way.

Demonstrate oral communication skills. Examples where you excelled.

Make persuasive presentations to senior management and agency partners.

Demonstrate your ability to communicate at all levels.

The ability to build Design Capabilities and share knowledge in an inspiring way resulting in increased productivity through global platforms.

Evangelize the meaning of Design (when Manifesto is delivered)

Direct, co-create and manage the creative output of agency partners.

Manage and build our global creative network

Confidence in selecting the appropriate team/agency for each project.

The ability to navigate and direct team/agency in clear and timely manner.

Manage one global Design region within TCCC.

Host bi-weekly conference calls / Skype to stay connected.

Report back in a timely and concise way.

An understanding of online communications – their capabilities and limitations, awareness of web and mobile technologies.
 
TO BE ABLE TO DESIGN+

Rounded understanding and appreciation of wider business issues.

An entrepreneurial approach to creative problem solving.

The ability to lead projects from concept to completion.

Develop usable, ownable and scalable holistic systems and solutions.

Strong interpersonal skills and a flexible and adaptable attitude.

Tackle uncomfortable issues, head-on.
 
WHAT WOULD ALSO BE USEFUL

Tools: To be able to use graphic Design tools across a variety of media (Mac), including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and AfterEffects. (Bonus points if you can use all of them!

Education: A BA in Graphic Design or professional equivalent. OR…

The University of Life: Having ran your own business, or agency experience.

Public Speaking: Not looking for a long list, but have you ever spoke to a design audience (ie design school or pro design event)? Would you ever consider it?

Juggle: The ability to manage up to 4+ major projects at any one time and the sub-projects that do with that. Bring to the meeting a list of projects you are currently leading.

“Always On” attitude: Irregular hours may be required around concept debut and key deadlines across the project schedule.

Travel: 15%

Language: Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Referees: Please provide 4 letters of support outlining your ability to be able to ;Design
